During Lieutenant Bäckströms time
Julita evolved into a magnificent and very typically higher ståndshem. |
Although the Gustavian furniture carpentry shop was substantially reduced in the circles in Stockholm
who led the development during the 1800s, the craft alive in the countryside,
albeit in somewhat different forms. The furniture maker who had their livelihoods in the freight
and farms had another important role to play.
They produced not only new furniture and fittings in the classic pattern,
but also entertained the already constructed.
Henning Forsman on Julita.
On Julita Manor ruled Palbitzki family for several generations.
When the baroness Beata Palbitzki died in 1872, after she had survived her husband
for more than two decades, Julita was inherited by her brother's wife children and grandchildren.
These goods are sold jointly to merchant Johan Bäckström, Stockholm.
He was a devoted fan of the classic taste
and had the ambition to beautify the Great Hall of Julita further.
The same goal was even more so his son Arthur,
which was heritage sectors and major donor.
When the lieutenant, as he always called, 1902, inherited Julita,
he let the konstfärdige farm carpenter Henning Forsman
responsible for the construction and renovation of furniture and fittings in the future taste.
Henning Forsman was a rare skilled craftsman and Carving.
He was not only gifted with their hands, but also had a pronounced,
artistic vein. He was born in 1870 and had two sons, Helgi and people.
Both sons went into his father's footsteps, but with time they sought to remove from Julita.
Remaining was the father of his craft and Julita is today still many examples
what a skilled carpenter farm could achieve.
1936 started the two sons of a small furniture industry in Katrineholm,
Helge since moving there from his carpentry Julita.
Fate, however, affected brother Folke, who lost an arm in the saw
and it was obviously impact on the small carpentry factory.
Which produced furniture and fittings were made, including the courthouse in Katrineholm.
A period of delivery is also the radio boxes of wood for Telefunken.

Helge Forsman, gårdssnickarens son |
By Helge Forsman followed a distinct sense of tradition and quality.
The furniture Åmells now started making was characterized by a high degree
of craftsmanship and the forms and patterns from the traditional gentleman's home.
We chose a deliberate style that was appreciated by all who knew authentic period furniture.
Helge, who was now foreman of Åmells, designed the many of the furniture itself
and showed great talent both at the drawing board and with tools in hand.
Many of his classic designs are still there and still used.
Preserved tradition.
Since Captain Amell passed away and his heirs took over the operation of the plant in Gnesta,
was making a sharper focus on chairs, dining furniture and cabinets of various kinds.
Order Production with opportunities for customers to choose
colors and designs soon became a conscious business.
Nevertheless maintained their own models and the range was characterized by a small,

Many embellishments and motifs which even today is cut in the furniture from Åmells originate in Henning Forsman's craft. |
One and another time allowed, however, Helge, in addition to the regular production
self-build a intarsiaskåp or agency, and always with the same excellent quality of the shape and pattern.
At the age of 70 left Helge Forsman Åmells Furniture.
Remained many of his apprentices and the well-developed crafts tradition.
Of course, today there are rational tool in the form of machinery and materials
even in Åmells, but as far as possible, the craft survived.
The reason is simple. Truly beautiful and durable furniture, colored and designed
the customer's personal preferences, can not produce alone machines and in large series.
This clears the feel of the furniture and the owner's pride at having such as a dining room furniture
manufactured in a tradition that originated in farm carpenter from Julita.
