Our production consists largely of small craft, but to some extent, we use modern technology to get such a good and lasting piece of furniture as possible.
The emphasis in the manufacturing process is, in spite of modern machines, the manual crafts.
Modern machines replace some of the work, but it is still very
much work that we use old tools for such as woodcarving irons.
Before the coating begins the furniture have already gone through several quality checks.
Hand sanding and assembly work with millimeter precision is part of the meticulous control.
Special Dried wood
We select our timber with care, because it is the foundation of our furniture.
The wood is dried at the right pace to avoid cracks.
This is imperative for the furniture to be durable and last very long.

In addition to solid knowledge of furniture making, a sculptor also must be aware
on the various pieces of law peculiarities of form language.
A few years ago was the woodcarving about to die out.
To avoid a craft would completely disappear from the country, there was started two woodcarving schools.
In Östervåla and Tibro. Here a small number of people had the opportunity to learn.
Upon completion of training you have to find a place where you can practice and practice their profession.
On Åmells Möbler we have had one of the young sculptor, trained in Östervåla.
He in turn taught others that meet the requirements that must be put on a sculptor who works with the 18'th century furniture.
Sculptor selects materials to be used for this purpose.
He draws up the subject and then cut out motifs with gouges.
The work is hard and physically demanding, whilst it must be done with absolute sensitivity.
To help the sculptor he has about a hundred different gouges in various forms.
To obtain a motif he presses the woodcarving iron by hand or using a wooden mallet.
Coating
Beautiful chairs in any color has become something of a symbol of Åmells Möbler.
Seat carrying capacity and stability, together with how it is assembled, will determine the chair's life.
The basic processing of the unpainted wood will determine the chair's appearance during many years.
Painting of a single chair is a long and demanding process in seven steps.
After the basic painting we brushpaint the furniture with colored linseed oil, or brush them to get the antique look.
This requires a very good touch, a distinctly craft that requires years of training.

Asphalt Brushing gives a special patina to the painted surfaces and create shadows and highlights in color.
Brushing is a very special moment that requires time and patience.
Since the furnitures are coated and patinated in different ways, they bear a coating that makes them resistant.
All of our furniture also meets the current direction real estate both in terms of stability and surface finish.
Details are cut by hand with gouges.
The painting is done with linseed oil in a process with seven steps.

The furniture is not assembled until they ordered.
